A community owned society

Whistlewood Common Limited is a Registered Society under the Co-operatives and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014

(formerly an Industrial Provident Society (for the benefit of the community) under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965)

The Society operates on a not-for-profit basis for the benefit of the community.

The Society is registered with the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority).

Members are drawn from shareholders investing in the society – shares cost £1 and the minimum share purchase is £50.  Each member has one vote, regardless of the number of shares they hold.

Whistlewood Common Limited was initiated by Melbourne Area Transition, a community group looking at practical ways to make the area more resilient in the face of peak oil, climate change and economic uncertainty.
